Digital Marketing Internship Fall 2022

Hey there!

I’m Kayla – the owner and CEO of DawnG Media. We work with purpose-driven companies that are frustrated because they know they’re missing out on opportunities and leave money on the table because they don’t have a concise digital presence.

The DGM team comes in alongside these organizations to help them flesh out their brand narrative, develop a digital marketing strategy, and help them execute on things like social media management, content creation, and website design.

Including me, we have a team of six amazingly talented women who make this work possible. I feel like we’ve hit our groove in streamlining our internal processes, and I think we’re in a place to offer a lot of value to someone interested in digital marketing as a career, someone thinking about becoming a freelancer, or someone interested in running their own agency one day.

Qualifications

We’re glad you’re interested in working with us. Now, let’s make sure you’d be a good fit!

Does that sound like you?

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university and receive course credit for this internship.
  • Major in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or other relevant focus of study
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to meet deadlines and anticipate the next steps
  • Work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Be available for at least 5-10 hours a week
  • Experience with Canva, Google Suite, Meta Business Suite
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
  • Basic WordPress experience preferred
  • Understanding of basic marketing principles
  • Experience with a range of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Your primary duty will be to soak up as much information as you can about digital marketing. Still, there will be some things you’ll be responsible for completing. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work collaboratively with the social media team to support the planning and execution of internal and client digital marketing strategies including, but not limited to social media channel management, email marketing campaigns, website content updates, and content creation.
  • Assist with content research, copywriting, and proofing
  • Keep current and informed on new social media trends
  • Grow and maintain hashtag libraries
  • Pull and review social media analytics; assist social media team in creating report presentations
  • Research competitor marketing and digital content
  • Curate visual and video content for social media
  • Assist with social media platform monitoring and engagement

Other things to know

This will be an unpaid internship. We know how difficult things can be to manage in college, so we won’t ask for more than 5-10 hours per week. But of course, you aren’t limited to those hours. This internship will also be remote, but on-site work opportunities will be available if interested.

My goal is for you to take advantage of the flexibility and access you’ll have while working with us. So, we’ll sit down at the beginning of your internship and talk through your goals and expectations. From there, we’ll add to or tweak your current responsibilities to ensure you get exposure to the things you’re most interested in.

My Advice

I know applying for jobs or anything similar can be stressful. Like, what’s the proper etiquette anyway? Should I follow up or not? I’ll help you out and tell you my preferences:

  • Please only apply through the application channels we’ve provided. Any additional email communication is NOT preferred. Email overload can be extremely overwhelming. If you must send a follow-up email, it should only go to info@dawngmedia.com.
  • I know social media is a large part of this internship, but please do not reach out to our business pages or any of our team member’s personal pages to tell us you applied or communicate your interest. If you applied, we’ll get an email notification letting us know you did and we’ll know you’re interested because…well…you applied.
  • In your application, be sure to communicate what you can bring to this experience and not just what you hope to learn.
  • Thoroughly read the internship description and use it as a point of reference when answering questions on the application.

Good luck!

We are no longer accepting applications for this role.
